The
Pasadena Human Relations Committee is developing an extensive series on
immigration in Pasadena. Committee Chair Felipe Infante, hopes to bring
all communities of Pasadena together in dialogue. “Immigration
legislation is not only a federal level issue. There are various
communities impacted at the local level,” states Infante. “We’re working
our hardest to develop a unique and creative series that will engage the
residents of Pasadena through unique approach,” he adds.
The
series will touch upon various aspects of immigration through film,
forums, discussions and other creative events. Immigration is often
thought of to be an exclusively Latino issue, this forum will hopefully
be an educational experience and provide social awareness.
The
Immigration Series will kick off in October beginning with activities
that help humanize immigration, an often ignored yet essential component
in how this issue is perceived.
