Dear Community Leader,

The Pasadena Unified School District Districting Taskforce would like to invite you and your community group or organization to participate in an important process that affects your representation on the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) School Board of Education. In February of 2011, the Pasadena Unified School District and the Pasadena City Council approved a process to move forward with amending the Pasadena City Charter that governs School Board member elections. A nine (9) member taskforce was selected and charged with the task of amending the Charter language and drawing new sub-regional districts with the purpose of electing future School Board Members. The taskforce developed charter language changes and the School Board has approved the proposed amended charter language. The City of Pasadena will vote on the Charter Amendment sometime in January of 2012 and we hope that it gets approved, and placed on the June 2012 ballot. 

In January of 2012, the taskforce will begin a tough task of drawing the sub-regional district maps and it is at this time where significant community input will be necessary, so that the maps are representative of the communities of Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre.

The taskforce would like to engage community groups and organizations into opening their doors to giving us an opportunity to announce the work that we have done now for about 6 months at your community group or organizations meetings.  The taskforce has made announcements at various community groups and organizations, but would like to make more announcements in the months to come.  The taskforce encourages that you contact us about our work.
